Making a portrait of you is like creating a commercial image of yourself.
A personal branding will refer who you are, what you do, and how you want to be seen by your business partners and clients.
Every detail must be important to present the best yourself.

First, a Good mindset for shooting.

  • A positive and a calm mindset is the number one thing you can have to help prepare for your headshot photography session. Try and get a good night’s sleep the evening before and bring a positive attitude to the shoot.
  • Anyone can be stressful for a photography session. No worries, our photographers will know how to make you comfortable, and even you are tense on the first shots, you’ll be really relax after few minutes.
  • Ask yourself how you would like to be presented to your audience, You want to give a first good impression, but in which way ? directive, with confidence and sympathy, or a friendly professionalism.

How to choose your our clothes for shooting ?

  • You are the subject, clothes and accessories are not, but they underline your identity.
  • Choose the clothes that you could wear for an important meeting, but the one you are comfortable with. Stay simple, stay yourself.
  • Well tailored and fit well jackets, shirts, t-shirts, blouses and dresses should make you look professional.Wearing a tie or not is a personal choice in the image you convey.
  • Neutral &darker tone allows the face to be the focal point.
  • If your style is more ‘creative or casual’ then a colored can be an alternative, but in the over way, avoid too seasonal or flashy clothes, vivid colors or ostentatious brands or jewelries.
  • Accessories are great addition and can give a little plus to your image (good tie, watch, glasses or jewels) but be careful to not distract the portrait, it mightoverwhelm your image. Feel free to bring along extra accessories so that we may discuss options with you.
  • Avoid too old or faded clothes, especially for employees uniforms.
  • Clean and iron your clothes, we recommend to wear it just before the shooting to avoid pleats.
  • Check missing button, lint, pet hair, or eventual stain.
  • Staff uniform are more than welcome for the headshot series, or you can also define a coordinate style to create a team unity.

Ikono’s photographers will adjust your clothes before and during the session. We can also provide a professional stylist.

Prepare your work accessories.

  • Any tools or objects that define your works and that could participate to your business identity
  • Cleaned up, or even new ones can be great, but used will also express your expertise and experience.

How to prepare yourself for headshot ?

  • Refresh your hair style before the session
  • Moisturize your skin the morning of the session
  • For women, light make-up is oftenly enough, light mascara, light blush and light lipstick
  • Stay yourself, don’t dress up to look like someone else. Simple is always the best to have a good professional looks
  • Check your manicure, hands might be in the frame.

If you wish to have your makeup or hair done, we can request the service of a professional makeup and hair stylist.

How to prepare your spaces for shooting ?

Preparing the premises for a corporate photo shoot or for real estate is a process that requires careful planning and attention to detail.

  • Prepare each room that will be used for the shooting, even the ones that could eventually use in second option.
  • Ensure that the premises are clean and tidy before the shoot.This includes cleaning floors, walls, windows and any other areas that may appear in the photos.
  • Organize your space as you want to be shown. Move furniture in a proper position.
  • You can had temporary furniture adapted to your branding.
  • Make sure that the desks, tables, counters and shelves are clutter-free. Remove useless or confidential files, papers, or anything that don’t have to be in the images.
  • Eliminate visual distractions like any personal items, electrical wires, promotional items, posters, calendars, team’s coffee maker, trash cans and waste paper basket.
  • Organize accessories and decorative items to complete the scene.This can include plants, books, frames, brand accessories, etc.make sure they are laid out in a cohesive and harmonious way. Stay simple.
